Padel Koh Phangan guide: every club, court and how to book

Where to play padel on Koh Phangan, which courts are covered, how to book on Playtomic and when to play in the heat.

Private pool and covered terrace at Mira Villas in Wok Tum, Koh Phangan

The short answer: the padel Koh Phangan scene is concentrated on the quiet west coast, and the three clubs we play at are RTF Padel (Hin Kong Road, three roofed courts), Zen Padel (four courts, three under a high roof) and Oxygen (two courts with a retractable roof, plus a tennis court). Book RTF and Zen on the Playtomic app, message Oxygen on WhatsApp, and play before 10:00 or after 17:00 to stay ahead of the heat.

Padel arrived on the island fast. A few years ago you would have packed a racket for nothing; as of October 2026 there are around a dozen courts, most of them covered, a busy weekly tournament calendar and a friendly crowd of residents and travellers who are always looking for a fourth. This is our guide to all of it, written from Wok Tum, where we live and play.

Padel Koh Phangan: our three picks

RTF Padel Club: the closest, and fully covered

RTF is a three-minute drive from our villas on Hin Kong Road, which makes it the club we use most. It has three panoramic courts, all under a roof: two doubles courts (the purple and blue courts on the booking screen) and a single court, which is rare on the island and useful if you want to drill one-on-one with a coach or a friend.

  • Hours: 07:00 to 23:00 every day, according to its Playtomic listing.
  • Booking: Playtomic only. You can top up a club wallet; at the time of writing a 5,000 THB top-up gives 5,500 THB of credit, which is worth it if you are staying a couple of weeks.
  • Tournaments: regular level-based sessions, typically a Tuesday morning slot (10:00 to 12:00) and a Thursday evening slot (18:00 to 20:00) split into intermediate and intermediate-plus/advanced groups, listed at 500 THB per player. Formats and days shift, so check the club's tournaments tab on Playtomic.
  • Facilities: equipment rental, a small pro shop, café and snack bar, changing rooms, Wi-Fi and free parking.
  • Coaching: we could not find a published lesson programme. Ask the front desk, who can usually put you in touch with a coach.

Why we like it: the roof means you can still play when a squall rolls in off the Gulf, and the 07:00 opening gives you a full hour of cooler air before the sun clears the hills.

Zen Padel: the social club with an academy

Zen Padel calls itself a social padel club, and that is a fair description. Its Playtomic page lists four doubles courts: three under a 12-metre roof and one open-air court. The open court is lovely at dusk and best avoided at noon. There is a café, a well-stocked shop for balls, grips and rackets, changing rooms with lockers, and free parking. The club sits a couple of minutes from the beach, about eight minutes' drive from Mira.

  • Hours: Playtomic shows 08:00 to 23:00 daily, with some days opening at 07:00. The club's own website still says "sunrise to sunset", so trust the app.
  • Booking: Playtomic, or WhatsApp the club on +66 82 162 8475.
  • Coaching: this is Zen's strength. The academy runs group classes by level (beginner-plus, intermediate and kids), listed at 750 to 800 THB per session.
  • Tournaments: public tournaments from beginner to advanced, listed at 650 to 750 THB, plus a free WhatsApp community where players arrange games.
  • Rental: equipment rental is available at the desk.

If you are travelling alone, Zen is where we would start. Join the community chat on day one and you will have a game by the evening.

Oxygen: padel and tennis together

Oxygen is the only one of our three picks that also has a tennis court. Its own site describes two padel courts and one tennis court under a retractable roof, with parking and showers. Reviews mention resident coaches (including one from Spain), a smoothie bar, a shop for clothing and equipment, and tournaments twice a week organised through a large WhatsApp group. It is about ten minutes from Mira, just north of Thong Sala.

  • Booking: Oxygen is not on Playtomic. Message the club on WhatsApp (+66 81 362 2076) or join its padel group from the link on its Linktree.
  • Coaching: private and group lessons with the resident coaches; agree the price when you book.
  • Good for: mixed groups where someone prefers tennis, and players who like a regular weekly tournament.

Other padel clubs on Koh Phangan

Phangan Padel Club, Ban Tai

On the south coast, the Phangan Arena sports ground in Ban Tai added two panoramic padel courts in 2025, installed by Prism Padel. The site also runs as a hostel with a pool, bar and restaurant, so it draws a younger, social crowd. In 2024 Ban Tai hosted the Thai Padel Series' first event on the island, the Phangan Open. From the west coast it is a drive across Thong Sala, so we treat it as an outing rather than a regular club. Contact the venue directly to book.

Padel Phangan Suite, Chaloklum

On the north coast at Haad Khom, this beachfront apartment hotel has its own padel court, listed as free for hotel guests. It is not a club in the usual sense. If you are staying in Chaloklum, ask whether outside players can book.

How to book padel on Koh Phangan with Playtomic

  1. Download Playtomic and set your location to Koh Phangan. RTF and Zen appear on the map; Koh Samui clubs will show up too, so check the address.
  2. Pick a 60 or 90-minute slot and check the price shown, as rates can differ by time of day.
  3. Pay in the app, either for the whole court or split between players.
  4. To find a game, open a match at your level and wait for others to join, or browse the open matches.
  5. Add the club's tournaments tab to your favourites. Most social events are listed there with a level band.

Playtomic levels run from 0 to 7. If you are new, set yourself low, because a level-3 game here is genuinely level 3.

Coaching, tournaments and racket hire

Coaching. Zen's academy is the most structured option, with published group classes. Oxygen has resident coaches for private lessons. At RTF, ask at the desk. We suggest one private lesson in your first week, even if you play at home, to get used to the heat and the courts.

Tournaments. You can play an organised event most days of the week across the three clubs. The listed sessions run about two hours, are split by level, and mix residents with visitors.

Racket hire. RTF and Zen list rental on Playtomic and Oxygen has a shop on site. Hire rackets are fine for a game or two; if you are staying longer, both RTF and Zen sell rackets, and buying a pair of fresh balls is always worth it.

The best time to play padel in the heat

Koh Phangan's daytime highs sit around 29 to 31°C most of the year, with humidity near 80%. April and May are the hottest months. A roof takes away the direct sun but not the heat, so plan your games like this:

  • 07:00 to 10:00: the best slot. The air is coolest and the courts are quiet.
  • 11:00 to 16:00: avoid unless you are acclimatised. Drink before you start, not just during.
  • 17:00 onwards: the second-best slot and the most social. Sunset on the west coast falls between about 18:00 and 18:45, so a 17:00 booking ends with the light going gold.

The wettest months on this side of the Gulf are usually October to December. Showers tend to arrive in bursts, which is exactly when covered courts earn their keep. Our guide to the best time to visit Koh Phangan has the month-by-month picture. Weather averages are long-term figures, so check the forecast before you travel.

New to padel?

Padel is a doubles racket sport played on a court about a third the size of a tennis court, enclosed by glass and mesh walls. You serve underarm, the ball can bounce off the walls after it lands, and scoring is the same as tennis. Most people rally happily within their first hour.

  • Start with a lesson. An hour with a coach teaches you the wall shots and positioning that make the game fun.
  • Wear proper shoes. Clean-soled court or tennis shoes, never running shoes on artificial grass.
  • Play with your level. Use Playtomic's beginner matches or Zen's beginner-plus classes rather than joining an open tournament.
  • Bring water and a towel. Even on a covered court in the morning, you will need both.

A padel week from Wok Tum

Staying at Mira, RTF is close enough to play at 07:00 and be back in the pool before breakfast. A typical day for our padel guests runs like this: an early game, coffee in Srithanu (see our breakfast and coffee guide), a quiet afternoon on the sun deck, then an evening tournament and dinner near the courts. For recovery, the ice baths and saunas in our Koh Phangan wellness guide are a short drive away, and our Wok Tum and Srithanu area guide covers everything else within ten minutes.

Our villas have two bedrooms each, which suits a padel four nicely, and the kitchen island is where the post-match smoothies happen. If you are planning a trip around your game, you can check availability and book direct.

Frequently asked questions

How many padel clubs are there on Koh Phangan?

As of October 2026 we count three public clubs on the west side (RTF Padel, Zen Padel and Oxygen), plus Phangan Padel Club in Ban Tai and a hotel court at Padel Phangan Suite in Chaloklum. Between them there are around a dozen courts.

How do I book a padel court on Koh Phangan?

RTF Padel and Zen Padel take bookings on the Playtomic app, where you can see live availability and pay. Oxygen works through WhatsApp and its player group. Phangan Padel Club is best contacted directly.

Are padel courts on Koh Phangan covered?

Most are. All three RTF courts are roofed, Zen Padel has three courts under a 12-metre roof plus one open-air court, and Oxygen says its padel courts have a retractable roof. Cover matters for both midday sun and the October to December rains.

Can I rent a padel racket on Koh Phangan?

Yes. RTF and Zen list equipment rental on Playtomic and both have a pro shop for balls and gear, and Oxygen has a shop on site. Ask when you book, as hire stock is limited at busy times.

What is the best time to play padel on Koh Phangan?

Early morning (07:00 to 10:00) and from about 17:00 onwards. Daytime highs sit around 29 to 31°C with humidity near 80%, so midday games are hard work even on a covered court.

Is there padel coaching for beginners on Koh Phangan?

Yes. Zen Padel runs academy group classes including beginner and kids levels, and Oxygen has resident coaches for private and group sessions. Book a lesson before joining a social game if you have never played.
