Koh Phangan wellness: spas, gyms, yoga and ice baths on the west coast
Our west-coast guide to gyms, spas, yoga shalas, saunas, ice baths and Thai massage, starting with our two favourites.

The short answer: Koh Phangan wellness centres on the west coast, between Hin Kong and Srithanu. Our two favourites are Xantiva, a sea-view gym on Hin Kong Road with a sauna, herbal steam room, ice bath and jacuzzi, and Orion Healing, a beachfront yoga and detox centre in Srithanu with daily drop-in classes. Around them you will find serious yoga schools, open-air gyms, Muay Thai camps, public sauna nights and a Thai massage shop on almost every corner.
We chose Wok Tum for our villas partly because of this. Within ten minutes' drive you can lift weights in the morning, take a yin class at sunset and finish in a herbal steam room, without going near the busier east and south of the island. This guide covers what we use ourselves, then the other places on the west coast we could verify, as of October 2026.

Our picks for Koh Phangan wellness
Xantiva: the gym, spa and recovery club in Hin Kong
Xantiva is five minutes from our villas on Hin Kong Road, and it is where most of our guests end up within a day of arriving. It is a proper health club rather than a hotel gym:
- The gym: a fully equipped weights floor with sea views over Hin Kong bay, an air-conditioned cardio room, and separate space for calisthenics and functional training.
- Recovery: a sauna, herbal steam room, ice bath and jacuzzi, which makes it the easiest contrast-therapy circuit on the west coast.
- Classes: a timetable of fitness classes, plus yoga and personal training on request.
- The garden: a lotus pond and an old sacred tree. It is a calm place to sit between rounds of hot and cold.
Opening hours are published differently in different places (we have seen both 07:00 and 10:00 openings, closing at 21:00), so check Xantiva's Instagram or Facebook page before an early session. Day passes and memberships are sold at the desk; ask for current prices.
How we use it: gym at 08:00 before the heat builds, back to the villa for breakfast, then sauna and ice bath in the late afternoon. If you are on the island for padel, it is the obvious recovery stop after a morning at RTF, which is on the same road. Our padel on Koh Phangan guide has the details.

Orion Healing: yoga, detox and spa by Srithanu Bay
Orion Healing has been running on Srithanu Bay since 2006. It is a full wellness campus, and also an easy place to drop into for a single class.
- Yoga: two shalas, one beachfront and one surrounded by jungle, with a daily schedule of hatha, vinyasa, yin, slow flow and kundalini. Drop-ins are welcome without booking; arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to get a mat space. The schedule is on Orion's website.
- Spa and recovery: a herbal steam room, infrared sauna, ice bath and saltwater pool, with massage and holistic treatments (Reiki, craniosacral therapy and others) on site.
- Programmes: for longer stays, multi-night juice and complete detox programmes, lifestyle programmes and yoga teacher trainings. Retreat guests can stay on site.
- The café: a vegan and raw-food café facing the bay, open to non-residents and a good place for lunch after a morning class.
Orion lists its hours as 08:30 to 22:00 daily. For us it works best as a slow morning: a vinyasa class, steam and ice bath, then lunch on the water. For more on the village around it, see our Wok Tum and Srithanu area guide.
Yoga in Srithanu: other shalas worth knowing
Srithanu has had a yoga scene for decades, and the choice can be overwhelming. These are the established names we could verify.
Agama Yoga
Agama's main campus is in Srithanu, and it is the most structured school on the island. Teaching follows a curriculum that starts at level 1 for complete beginners and covers asana, pranayama, philosophy and tantra over a long series of courses. It suits people staying several weeks rather than dropping in once. Check the course calendar before you arrive.
Samma Karuna
Samma Karuna opened in 2014 on Haad Chao Phao beach, a couple of minutes' drive from central Srithanu. It is the more experimental end of the scene: yoga alongside tantra workshops, conscious movement and ecstatic dance.
Wonderland Healing Center
Wonderland is a jungle retreat inland from the west coast, with a pool, herbal steam sauna and several yoga halls. Retreats have fixed start dates and a minimum stay, and a seasonal day pass lets non-residents use classes, meals, the pool and the sauna.
Pyramid Yoga Center
A family-run centre in the hills of the north-west, built around a pyramid-shaped shala, with a plant-based restaurant, a sound dome and a viewpoint. It is known for kundalini and teacher trainings, and it is worth the drive for the setting alone.

Gym on Koh Phangan: where to train
- Xantiva, Hin Kong Road is our first choice on the west coast (see above).
- Evolve Health Club, Srithanu. An open-air gym with an old-school feel and classes such as kettlebells, yoga and Muay Thai. Recent guides mention a sauna and ice bath for premium members.
- Podium Gym, Ban Tai. Often described as the island's most complete gym, mostly air-conditioned, with a functional training area outside. It is on the south coast, so it is a drive from Wok Tum.
- Phangan Muay Thai and Fitness, Thong Sala. A large, unfussy gym split between weights and a Muay Thai area, open 07:00 to 20:30 Monday to Saturday and shorter hours on Sunday, according to listings.
Muay Thai near the west coast
Diamond Muay Thai is in Nai Wok, two minutes' walk from the beach and a short drive south of our villas. Group sessions run Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 18:00, with Sunday off, and the camp lends gloves, shin guards and hand wraps, so you can turn up with just shorts and water. Take the morning session if you can, as the afternoon one ends in the hottest, most humid part of the day.
Phangan Muay Thai and Fitness in Thong Sala is the other established option, with a boxing ring alongside the gym.
Saunas and ice baths on Koh Phangan
Contrast therapy has become part of daily life on the west coast. The main options:
- Xantiva: sauna, herbal steam, ice bath and jacuzzi, open daily.
- Orion Healing: herbal steam, infrared sauna and ice bath, next to the bay.
- Sunset Hill Resort, Haad Chao Phao: a sauna centre with an infrared sauna, Finnish dry sauna, large steam room and an iced plunge pool. It opens to the public on Monday and Thursday evenings; entry is listed at 350 THB including a locker and pool use, with towels at 50 THB (as of October 2026). Bring your own towel.
- Wonderland: herbal steam sauna, included in its seasonal day pass.
If you are new to ice baths, start with one or two minutes and never go in alone. Drink plenty of water in this climate, especially after a sauna.
Spa on Koh Phangan: Thai massage on the west coast
A good traditional Thai massage is one of the island's simple pleasures, and Srithanu has plenty. The ones we could verify:
- Pure Relax, Srithanu. Running since 2007, with 17 private treatment rooms in the centre of the village. Open 10:00 to midnight. Massages are listed at 400 to 1,500 THB per hour, with scrubs and multi-hour spa packages too.
- Revive Massage, Srithanu. A small shop with strong reviews for therapeutic Thai massage; therapists are praised for their knowledge of anatomy.
- Papaya Massage, Srithanu. Thai and oil massage on the main Srithanu road near Zen Beach, open 10:00 to 22:00.
- Orion Healing offers massage and holistic treatments in a quieter, spa-style setting.
Ask for firm or gentle pressure at the start; Thai therapists will adjust. Prices change, so check the menu at the door.

A west-coast wellness day from Wok Tum
Our guests' favourite pattern: an 08:00 session at Xantiva or a morning class at Orion, breakfast in Srithanu (our breakfast and coffee guide lists our favourites), a massage at noon, a quiet afternoon by your own pool, then sauna and ice bath before sunset. Our sunset spots guide covers where to end the day.
Every Mira villa has its own pool, a covered terrace and a sunken lounge for doing very little in between. If a wellness week is what you have in mind, you can book a villa direct.
